Love Your Pet Day

Pet parents, mark your calendars: Love Your Pet Day is coming up February 20th! Our animal companions are truly special gifts, and are certainly something to celebrate. Pets provide us with unconditional love, keep us laughing with their hilarious antics, and offer us comfort, support, and endless cuddles when we are down. Read on for some great suggestions from a Sugar Land, TX vet on things you can do for your furry buddy on Love Your Pet Day.

If our furred, feathered, and scaled friends could list their favorite things, we’re pretty sure food would come in at or near the top of the list. Treat your pet to something yummy. Just be sure to only offer your pet safe, suitable foods. Ask your vet for specific advice.

Veterinary Appointment

We know, our patients may be more appreciative of toys and treats than of veterinary appointments, but veterinary care is absolutely crucial to your pet’s health. Call your vet to schedule an appointment.

Take time to get some really cute photos of your pet. Have some fun with it: get a picture of Fido playing with his favorite toy, or snap a shot of Fluffy mid-meow.

Pets are much happier when they feel loved. Spend some quality time with your animal companion. Settling in with a good book or movie and your animal buddy is a great way to unwind after a long day!

A beauty treatment is a great way to pamper your pet! Our animal friends all have different grooming needs. Fido may be due for a bath, while Fluffy may only need a good brushing.

Toys provide pets with both mental stimulation and physical exercise, which are both very important to their health and well-being. Smaller animals, like bunnies and Guinea pigs, also need lots of chew toys, as they need to nibble to keep their teeth from overgrowing.

Buy or make your pet a new piece of furniture. If your animal buddy lives in a cage or tank, consider getting them a bigger one, or a new hidey-hole. Fluffy may appreciate a cat tower or kitty condo, while Fido may enjoy a new doggy bed.
