6 Great Reasons to Play With Your Cat Regularly

Did you know that one of the best things you can do for your feline buddy is to play with her? We all know that frisky kitties are adorable to watch. However, as it turns out, all that pouncing and jumping is actually great for Fluffy. In this article, a Sugar Land, TX vet lists some reasons to play with Fluffy.

Exercise

First and foremost, playing is a great way to help your pet stay in shape. Fluffy is certainly a sleepy little furball! While kitties’ napping obsession is cute, it makes it easy for them to get out of shape. Even a few minutes of pouncing and jumping will help.

Burn Excess Energy

Do you have a furry ball of zoom on your hands? Is Fluffy fighting with a feline roommate? If you tire your kitty out with a fun round of Catch The Red Dot, your spirited little pet may be too tired to bother making mischief.

Bonding

Playing with your four-legged buddy is a great way for you to spend time with her and make her feel loved. Cats know when we do something for their benefit. (Of course, Fluffy may show her gratitude in some odd ways, but that’s beside the point.)

Mental Stimulation

Fluffy has to really focus to time her pounces and jumps just right. The mental stimulation your frisky feline gets from playing is great for her, especially as she ages. Think of it as the kitty equivalent of doing a crossword puzzle every day.

Entertainment

Your furry buddy may spend a rather ridiculous amount of time sleeping, but even the drowsiest furball can’t spend all day napping. Kitties can get bored and restless with nothing to do! That fun play session may very well be the highlight of Fluffy’s day!

It’s Cute!

Regular kitty play sessions may be just as fun for you as they are for Fluffy. Playful cats are absolutely adorable! Our feline pals truly have a special way of making us smile with their funny antics. It’s almost impossible not to laugh when seeing your cute pet do that pre-pounce butt wiggle cats do! Plus, this is a great way to relax and unwind after a long day at work!
