National Cat Day

Did you know that October 29th is a very special day for kitties? It’s National Cat Day! While Fluffy would no doubt insist that every day is National Cat Day, the official date is the 29th. This is a great time to show your feline pal some extra TLC, and perhaps pamper her a bit. Here, a Sugar Land, TX vet offers tips on celebrating this special holiday.

Toys

Toys are of course lots of fun for Fluffy, but did you know that they are also beneficial for her? Pick up some new playthings for your kitty. Classic cat toys, like wand toys or fuzzy mice, are always a good choice, but if you want to try something new, offer your pet some catnip bubbles, a robotic mouse, or a mechanical fish.

Treats

Why not give Fluffy a special treat? Canned tuna in water is fine. You can also activate the purr with plain, cooked meat, fish, or poultry; shredded deli meat; cat milk; or a little bit of roast beef.

Veterinary Appointment

We know, Fluffy would much rather spend her time napping than visiting us. We don’t take it personally! We also do everything we can to make visits comfortable and easy for our feline patients. However, regardless of your furball’s opinions about veterinary appointments, she will both look and feel better with proper care. Schedule your pet’s next visit today!

Kitty Garden

A container of catnip or cat grass is bound to put that smug, happy look on your furry pal’s face. Get Fluffy a small plant to nibble on.

Pet Furniture

Kitties are experts at making themselves comfortable on our beds, sofas, and chairs, but Fluffy will still love something made just for her. A cat tower, kitty tent, or pet tipi would be a great gift. Your pet will also appreciate a new bed. If you’re working with a tight budget, look online for great DIY ideas.

Love

At the end of the day, Fluffy needs to feel loved, safe, and comfortable to truly be happy. To get that little engine running, spend some extra time with your kitty. Pet her, play with her, and just pay attention to her. You’ll be rewarded with purrs and kitty cuddles, which are truly precious gifts!
